time on one today, and you will know why!
The EBR 1190RS has
been awarded "Dreambike of the Year" for
2011 by Motorcyclist magazine! Erik Buell was also named "Motorcyclist of
the Year". Congratulations, Erik!
IDS partnered with
Erik Buell Racing on the all-new 2012 EBR 1190RS. IDS developed the Engine

IDS-sponsored Team Blomenberg scored a second-place finish just behind Team
Hot Pants at the first annual Friedheim Rubber
Chicken Toss! Read more at Rubber Chicken Toss.
IDS completed
hardware and software validation for 2010 Buell motorcycles in early June. All
ignition and fuel injection electronic modules for Buell are designed by IDS
and produced by Synerject, LLC. IDS is excited about
the new features and level of refinement for model year 2010! Visit your Buell
dealer this fall and ask about the 2010 models!
DDFI-3
ECMs are now being built in Delavan, Wisconsin, just down the road from Buell
Motorcycle Company. Synerject LLC began
manufacturing DDFI-3 in late 2008 under an agreement with IDS, Inc.
DDFI-3 was previously built by a contract manufacturer in southern
Indiana. IDS will continue to provide software and hardware development
for DDFI-3 as in the past.
In
July of 2008, Buell Motorcycle Company launched the 1125CR using DDFI-3 as its
engine management system. This vehicle has received outstanding magazine
reviews and is being well received in the marketplace. The 1125CR joins
the 1125R and the air-cooled XB family of Buell motorcycles using DDFI-3.
Go to www.buell.com for more information on
the 1125CR!
In
March of 2008, IDS received a one-year blanket order for ventilation control
modules from a new customer. These modules will be used for cooling fan
and curtain controls, primarily in agricultural applications.
Tim
represented IntelliRay, Inc. and IDS, Inc. at the
Adams County MDA lockup on September 18, 2007. The MDA fund drive raised
over $28,000 to help fight Muscular Dystrophy in Adams County. Thanks to
our friends and customers, Tim raised $1635 for his "bail" and was
the top bail raiser for the county, so they let him out of jail early!
In
August of 2007, IDS signed agreements with Buell Motorcycle Company and
Harley-Davidson Motor Company. These agreements formalize the
relationship between IDS and these two important customers. IDS looks
forward to growing our relationship with these customers in the months and
years to come!
In
July of 2007, Buell Motorcycle Company announced the all-new 1125R. With
a planned start-of-production in October of this year, the 1125R features a new
72-degree water-cooled overhead valve engine! This high-performance power
plant is controlled by IDS' DDFI-3 Engine Control Module. With Buell's innovative and outstanding frame
design, the 1125R is a truly awesome machine to ride! The 1125R makes
good use of the new features available on the DDFI-3 ECM, including high-speed
CAN
cluster communication, variable fuel pressure control, idle speed control, and
vehicle security features. Go to www.buell.com for more information on the 1125R!
Concluding
several years of new product development, Buell Motorcycle Company launched its
2008 model year XB motorcycles with DDFI-3, an all-new Engine Control Module
designed in partnership with IDS, Inc. This ECM provides all the features
of the DDFI-2B ECM used in previous years along with many new features.
DDFI-3 provides over twice the processing power and input/output capability in
the same compact case as DDFI-2B. IDS thanks Buell for choosing us as
their partner on this important project!
As
of May 15, 2007, Intelligent Design Solutions Inc. is one year old. It was an
exciting challenge, and we want to extend our appreciation to all who made it
possible.
Nearly
100 people toured the IDS headquarters on November 18, 2006. Family,
friends, neighbors, and construction workers attended the open house at the new
facility. It was an opportunity to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone
that helped make our building a reality. Some folks even stayed around
until the wee hours of the 19th...everyone seemed to enjoy the day!
On
August 8, 2006, Intelligent Design Solutions, Inc. purchased development equipment
and intellectual property from Kimball International. Kimball is closing
the Auburn, IN facility September 1. This transaction allows previous
customers that purchased small engine controls from the Auburn facility to
continue developing these systems uninterrupted with the same design staff and
equipment, while production of their units continues at other Kimball
facilities.
Much
of the development equipment and product designs date back to previous owners
of the plant in Auburn including Magnavox, Philips, VDO, Siemens, and
Kimball. If your company purchased modules or systems from the Auburn
plant, give us a call or drop us an e-mail. We can most likely continue
to provide product development support!
The
IDS corporate headquarters is at 10262 N. 550 West, Decatur, IN. The 6000
square foot building is now in use! Facility
pictures are available, or you can check out our construction pictures.
Intelligent
Design Solutions, Inc. was incorporated on May 15, 2006, in the state of
Indiana, doing business as IDS.
